M Cookie Consent
GDPR consent with Google Consent Mode v2, no third party
What it does
Makes a WordPress site compliant with GDPR/ePrivacy and Google's Consent Mode v2 (mandatory for EEA traffic) without external services, accounts or heavy scripts. Before consent, not a single request reaches Google or Meta.
Features
- Tracking scripts printed inert as type="text/plain" and executed only after matching consent
- Consent Mode v2 defaults set in the head before anything else, then updated on the visitor's decision
- Accept all, Reject all and per-category choices given equal prominence, as EU regulators require
- The choice lives in one first-party cookie. No server storage, no AJAX, so full-page caching still works
- GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and custom head scripts, each behind the right category
- Consent withdrawable any time via a floating button, a shortcode or a link to #mcc-settings
Installing it
- Download the ZIP above.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP and install it.
- Activate. The defaults are safe to leave alone; everything else is optional.
Licensed GPL-2.0-or-later. No account, no licence key, no phone-home. Where a plugin can talk to an outside service, that is off until you switch it on.
